Our campsite Le Clot du Jay is ideally located to visit Gap and its surroundings. The surroundings of Gap are a marvel if you like the sumptuous mountain landscapes, but the city of Gap is also worth a visit!

From your campsite, you can reach Gap by driving 48 km in about 1 hour. You will discover a rich cultural heritage with the superb Notre-Dame-et-Saint-Arnoux cathedral, the Horloge tower, the Saint-Marcellin square, the Hautes-Alpes departmental museum or the Charance castle with its agricultural eco-museum.

Around Gap, visit picturesque villages like Neffes, Le Noyer, Laye, Rambaud, Dévoluy, Châteauvieux…

Forcalquier

Forcalquier is a historical and touristic city located 72 km from the campsite Le Clot du Jay. It takes only 55 minutes to reach this picturesque town. You can stroll through its old streets and discover its small squares with their fountains. Admire the beautiful Provencal houses and enjoy the typical atmosphere. Visit also the citadel and its fortifications, the Cordeliers convent or the remains of the Via Domitia.

Take advantage of your stay to discover the market of Forcalquier on Monday morning. It is the largest market in the region!

The gorges of the Méouge

A stay in the Hautes-Alpes also means swimming and walking. The campsite near the gorges of the Méouge allows you to reach the river in 37 minutes (35.2 km). This site is a must-see. The views are extraordinary. The river forms natural baths which are ideal for children to refresh themselves. Finally, the gorges of the Méouge are a paradise for hikers, cyclists and horseback riders.

The lake of Serre-Ponçon

At 60 km from the campsite and only a little more than an hour away, the Serre-Ponçon lake is a paradise for nature lovers. The numerous beaches and 80 km of shoreline welcome you for swimming, relaxing and water sports with family or friends.

The lake of Serre-Ponçon is surrounded by magnificent mountains and offers hiking possibilities that you won’t forget! You will spend wonderful days in an exceptional setting.

The high mountain with Saint-Jean-Montclar

Saint-Jean-Montclar is a family resort in the high mountains which welcomes nature lovers in winter as well as in summer. It is located above the lake of Serre-Ponçon and spreads over two valleys: the Blanche valley and the Ubaye valley.

You can discover the path of the chapels and the fort of Dormillouse. In winter, you can practice skiing, snowshoeing, dog sledding, speedriding, yooner… In summer, you will have the opportunity to do accrobranche, downhill mountain biking, hiking, paragliding.

Manosque

One hour’s drive from the campsite near Sisteron, Manosque is a city with an exceptional natural and cultural heritage. Visit the city center with notably the Soubeyran gate and the Saint-Sauveur church. The literary culture and the traces of Jean Giono are very present in Manosque thanks to museums and exhibitions.

Don’t miss a hike to the Mont-d’Or hill for an exceptional view. Finally, visit the factory and the Mediterranean garden of the famous brand L’Occitane en Provence, which designs natural beauty products.

The plateau of Valensole

Located a little over an hour’s drive (93 km) from the campsite Le Clot du Jay in Clamensane, the Valensole plateau offers a vast expanse of lavender and wheat fields. If you want to admire the typical landscapes of Provence, the plateau of Valensole is the ideal place.

You can visit the charming villages of Saint-Martin-de-Brômes, Esparron-de-Verdon, Valensole or Riez.

The gorges of the Verdon

The Gorges du Verdon are a high place of tourism. It takes 2 hours and 20 minutes to get there, the time to cover the 133 km that separate the campsite from the largest canyon in Europe. You will discover grandiose and preserved natural landscapes.

You will enjoy hiking and water activities allowing you to discover the gorges in their best light. You will also be able to enjoy many exceptional gastronomic treasures such as truffles, wine or olive oil.

Lake St. Croix

The Sainte-Croix lake is a magnificent 22 km2 stretch of water in Haute-Provence. Located 124 km from the campsite Le Clot du Jay, it takes 2 hours to reach this magnificent site. You can spend a day swimming, relaxing and walking among the pines and holm oaks. You will discover peaceful places in the surrounding villages (Sainte-Croix or Moustiers-Sainte-Marie for example).

At the lake of Sainte-Croix, various activities are proposed to you: pedal boat, canoe-kayak, sailing, electric boat and other nautical activities.
